The symbol on Miss Rooker's back
is called "Gye Nyame."

It is a traditional African religious symbol from Ghana in West Africa.

Literally translated from the native Twi--
a predominant language of the hundreds
spoken throughout the country--
"gye Nyame" means "accept God."

However, this symbol is widely used and
differently defined all over Ghana.

In addition to it's literal meaning,
Miss Rooker's chosen interpretations
of this symbol include: "except God"
as in "nothing is perfect except God" and
"nothing can be done except with God."

The sickles on either side of the symbol
can be read to mean "no one has seen
the beginning and no one has seen the end, except God."
